THE MARKET CULTURE – WHAT’S INSPIRING US

We are saying hello to summer and what a way to celebrate here in paradise than at our Mid-Summer Night Dream inspired Night Market!
When we first discovered the concept for our newest themed evening we had so many sources for inspiration. We love the idea of a space where you can surround yourself with like-minded people, enjoy good music, goods vibe, good food, ever changing retails stalls and the laughter of the cool crowd – it’s so intoxicating.
We truly believe there is a sense of belonging at markets all over the world. Appreciating the true beauty of sharing meals, browsing the stalls, eating at communal tables with a bunch of strangers gives you the idea of home. This kind of atmosphere gives people the opportunity to connect through the love of food, drink and shopping, what gets better than that!
Here are our some of our favourite markets that we discovered though our travels. Here’s our top 5 that we are still dreaming about:
Pike Place Market – Seattle, USA
Located in the historical distinct, The Pike Place Market spreads over several city blocks packed with a broad cross-section of urban life. This market inspired us for the colourful and exciting happenings that change throughout the seasons, it’s for sure one of Seattle’s treasures.
La Boqueria Market – Barcelona, Spain
La Boqueria Market in the heart of down town Barcelona is the closest experience you can get to a daily life as a local. The bright, busy, foodie forward market makes every corner you turn an adventure. Advice: try all the cheese stalls; they give the most delicious samples!
St Lawrence Market – Toronto, Canada
Named the best food market in the world in 2012, St. Lawrence Market is a foodie heaven in all aspects. Filled with history, yummy food and great stalls selling artisan goods, St. Lawrence Market is the perfect spot for a day out. We recommend you check out Gourmet Coffee Company and order yourself a flat white, their coffees are out of this world.
Camden Lock Market – London, UK
From steampunk clothing stalls to kangaroo burgers to their very own brewery beer specials, everywhere you look there is something to see, eat or drink! We love the Camden market for the ever-changing food vendors, there is something for everyone. Advice: go hungry and leave very full.
Tsukiji Fish Market – Tokyo, Japan
They said that no visit to Tsukiji is complete without a sushi breakfast. The hustle and bustle atmosphere of this market is second to none. Whether you want to wake up at 3am to catch the tuna auction or browse the stalls for authentic sushi knifes, japan teas or hella-good ramen at Chuka Soba Inoue, this place is the place to be!
Join us next Friday (the 20th) for a unique market experience that you can add to your list. With elements from all of our favourite markets we can’t wait to share with you what we have up our sleeves this time!
